Project Outline

Wenlock Works is a contemporary office development in Hoxton, London N1. Located in close proximity to the Silicon Roundabout the area has fast become the epicentre for digital industry leaders and synonymous with London’s vibrant tech scene. The project represents a comprehensive refurbishment under the design direction of Buckley Gray Yeoman Architects. The scheme cleverly reinterprets the warehouses of Old Street’s industrial heyday with innovative material use to transform an existing 6 storey commercial office block with the addition of 2 floors to provide 140,000 sq ft of office space and an external terrace.

Parkrose was appointed by Main Contractor Sir Robert McAlpine to design, deliver and install a washroom and shower/changing area fitout package that fused new materials with old to provide a quality, fit, finish and aesthetic that was appropriate to the fabric of the building and its occupants.

Scope of Works

Parkrose was assigned to deliver an architectural washroom fitout package to the central core. The scope included performance drywall partitions with bespoke anodized recessed trim detailing and integrated vanity unit structural supports. MF ceilings were utilised throughout with insert metal pan ceilings along washroom corridors and cubicles to facilitate ceiling void access. Calcium silicate raised access flooring was employed to provide ease of install and a superior sub-floor substrate. The washroom appointment captured European Oak veneer cubicle door sets with bespoke Douglas Fir cladding to accent elevations. Bespoke concrete sinks, circular mirrors and anodized FF&E completed the eye-catching look. The Parkrose scope also extended to a DDA washroom and basement shower area fit-out that in addition to the core areas added further FF&E, bespoke lockers, vanity units and benching.

The comprehensive and architecturally striking wall and floor tiling to these areas was expertly installed by Stortford Interiors’ in-house tiling business Arcade Tiling. Intricate reveal trim and tile interface details had to be closely co-ordinated to provide a sharp and uniform finish. The washroom fit-out scope facilitated ease of interface coordination, provided demonstrated programme benefits and further reinforced Parkrose’s reputation as London’s leading Washroom FitOut Contractor.
