Our head office team had a Monday morning special treat recently: a visit from the Lighthouse Charity’s #makeitvisible team. The incredible Ray and Sam spoke beautifully to our assembled staff about mental health and the importance of sharing with and supporting our fellow team members. Here are just a few highlights that our colleagues shared about the visit:
“Ray & Sam gave a hard hitting and moving talk, and were very open and honest. It was great to hear from two guys have made it through some very tough and dark times. It is reassuring to hear that we can have access to all the advice, guidance and assistance Lighthouse offers.”
“I thought the talk by Ray and Sam was fantastic. They were so honest and approachable, and I thought they really got the point across to reach out and talk, and to not be ashamed if you’re struggling (particularly for men, who may not feel as comfortable talking). As someone who has a daughter who struggles with her mental health, the stories they told were very hard-hitting, but so important for people to hear. I was surprised at the amount of support the Lighthouse Charity offers, and I think it’s great that they offer help to families of those linked to the construction industry too. I thought it was good that they stayed for a while after the talk, so if anyone wanted to speak to them away from everyone else, it was possible to do so.”
“I thought it was a very good presentation. The guys who hosted it had hard-hitting stories which were tough but necessary to hear. It was good to know the options that are there through the charity if needed.”
