Parkrose receives FIS Certificate of Excellence with The Garrick Club project
Stortford Interiors’ (UK) in-house joinery division, Parkrose has received the FIS Contractors Awards Certificate of Excellence for its specialist joinery installation at the private members club, The Garrick Club.
Parkrose has been recognised for the extensive joinery fit-out of the Club which was founded in the heart of London’s West End in 1831 under the patronage of the Duke of Sussex. Today, the Club has around 1,300 members including many of the most distinguished actors in England.
The project included an expansive new library and archive for the Club’s important theatrical collection containing valuable manuscripts, documents, play-texts, playbills and programmes. It houses a life-size bust of poet William Shakespeare which forms part of the largest and most comprehensive collection of theatrical artwork in existence.
Other works in the 56 week project included the fit-out of front and back of house offices, guest bedrooms, dining rooms and a billiard room. Parkrose created bespoke bronze and brass ironmongery whilst replacement traditional hardwood panelling and panelled doors were manufactured to match existing details.
Steve Harvey, Joinery Director of Parkrose said: “It was a pleasure to be tasked with restoring the grandeur of the historic Garrick Club which holds great significance in Theatreland. Everyone who worked on the project is proud to have received this award which is an acknowledgement of the continued high standards to which we work.”
