214 Oxford Street
Ingka Investments signed a conditional purchase agreement to acquire the property at 214 Oxford Street in 2021, and the investment will be part of the real estate portfolio of Ingka Investments, the investment arm of Ingka Group. The investment supports the transformation of Ingka Group’s retail business, bringing IKEA closer to customers by opening new IKEA store formats in city locations, in response to increasing urbanisation and new shopping behaviours. The property comprises a total of 22,200 sqm / 239,000 sq/ft over seven floors.
McLaren have turned the former flagship of Top Shop at London’s Oxford Circus into a new Ikea store. The store will host IKEA UK’s second smaller store format and will follow the recent opening of IKEA Hammersmith. The new store sells accessories and some furniture, and also includes planning studios for spaces such as kitchens and wardrobes.
Scope of Works
The comprehensive Joinery Fit-Out package was awarded by McLaren and comprised laminate faced and factory painted timber doorsets, metal doorsets, ironmongery, Oak window linings, capping’s & handrails, skirting, lightweight concrete panelling, acoustic panelling, timber stairs & balustrades, reception desk, mirrors, sliding stacking partitions, FF&E and a full kitchenette fit-out. The scope also captured the changing room lockers and cycle storage racks to the basement areas of the building.
