Stortford Interiors have the pleasure to announce that we have secured a major drywall award at the new Sky Studios in Elstree for Main Contractor BAM. The Tier One Contractor has been appointed by Legal & General, Sky and NBCUniversal to create Sky Studios; the most sustainable film and TV studio in the world.
Set to open in 2022 just north of London, Sky Studios Elstree will house 13 sound stages and become home to a range of film and TV productions attracting £3bn of production spend over the first five years of operation alone. The studios will sit upon a 32 acre development that will generate over 2,000 new jobs and play a key role in delivering Sky’s ambitions to become net zero carbon by 2030.
The multi-million pound award will see Stortford Interiors deliver a broad drywall scope over numerous new buildings including studios and offices alike. Works are due to start in Q4 2021 and will include a high performance structural SFS package that captures 15m high dividing walls with enhanced acoustic properties, internal partitions and sound absorbent ceiling membranes. Interfaces with the building fabric will be key with a strong onus on ensuring that high level works are conducted safely and compliantly.
