Oak Cancer Centre
Stortford Interiors were appointed by Main Contractor ISG to deliver a technical and demanding drywall and suspended ceilings package for The Royal Marsden Trust at their new Oak Cancer Centre in Sutton. The striking new building, at the gateway to the world-renowned cancer hospital and research centre provides new outpatient facilities, medical day-care and collaboration space for clinical researchers to accelerate cancer diagnosis and treatment for patients. The new six-storey, 134,000 sq. ft concrete frame building is the centrepiece of an ambitious plan, alongside academic partner, The Institute of Cancer Research, to create a cancer research campus – The London Cancer Hub.
Scope of Works
With a high expectation on consistent quality, compliance and intimate allied trade co-ordination Stortford Interiors delivered a suite of performance drywall systems that included SFS to the external envelope and lead lined construction to mammography and procedure rooms. The scope also included highly cellular drywall constructions to meeting, consultation and examination rooms that required intimate interface detailing to ensure that performance requirements were not compromised. Special note must be made to the expansive atrium area where Stortford Interiors installed perforated and punched acoustic board to four stories and interfaced with glazed screens and a saw tooth roof construction to achieve a stunning architectural feature.
Stortford Interiors remit also captured an array of suspended ceilings to office, treatment and common areas that included monolithic metal framed acoustic ceilings (perforated and non-perforated), bespoke specialist metal pan ceilings to corridor areas and mineral and glass fibre exposed grid ceilings to cellular areas. The award represented an opportunity for Stortford Interiors to continue our growing presence in the Healthcare sector and demonstrate our technical knowledge, close attention to detail and allied trade collaboration to deliver a demanding drywall and suspended ceiling package.
