Stratford
Marshgate is part of UCL East, a new world-class UCL campus located on Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, and the largest single expansion of University College London since it was founded in Bloomsbury nearly 200 years ago. It is home to new degree programmes, research, innovation and technologies from across eight UCL faculties – uniting activities across Experiments, Arts, Society & Technology, as well as a range of academic centres. Opened in 2023, Marshgate is an environmentally responsible building. It has been designed to provide new spaces for collaborative thinking that transcends the boundaries of traditional academic activities, enabling students and staff to immerse themselves in innovative activities and game changing approaches to research. It will provide over 34,000sqm of academic space – the size of nearly five Wembley football pitches – as well as café and retail uses.
At the heart of the eight-storey building is a central atrium that is openly accessible to encourage inclusivity and community engagement with the use of a ‘Fluid Zone’ at ground and first floor level to draw people into the building. Floor space above these levels has been designed to encourage collaboration and engagement between academic uses through largely open plan and circulatory spaces.

The award provided an opportunity for Parkrose to deliver its first major Washroom Fit-Out for Mace, consolidating a trading relationship developed by our Joinery Business Unit on the One Thames City development.
